If a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player wants to use the best zoning characters, they should try some of these.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a lot of different characters from all over the world of video games. Unless they are an echo fighter, each character has a unique set of moves and different ways to use them to get the most out of the game’s meta. In general, though, characters can be put into different groups based on how they are played. Zoners are one of these groups.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, “zoning” characters are those who mostly fight other characters by throwing things at them or hitting them from far away. These would be people who use bombs, explosions, guns, and other weapons. Some of the most important things to think about when picking a character to have a better chance in a matchup are the ones that deal with zoning.
Dark Samus
Dark Samus is one of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s new characters that players could have unlocked in the base game. Dark Samus is a fighter who looks a lot like the regular Samus. Players have talked about which Samus is better, and many say that Dark Samus is better because of one key difference.
She is less grounded. Dark Samus has all of the same moves as Samus, but she is much lighter, so she can jump higher but can also be thrown farther.
Samus
Since Super Smash Bros. 64 came out on the Gamecube, people have thought of Samus as the main character for zoning. Samus’s special moves usually have some kind of projectile that other players can get hurt by. Her neutral special is a blast from her cannon that can be charged.
When this blast is fully charged, it can kill an opponent pretty quickly. She also has missiles that are great for making combos and doing damage, as well as small bombs that can confuse the enemy.
Mega Man
Before Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. 3DS, and Nintendo Wii U, Mega Man made his debut in the game (Super Smash Bros. 4). Mega Man is so much like the main characters he is based on.
The arm cannon blast that is Mega Man’s signature move is also his forward smash. He can throw gears, has a shield made of leaves, can drop sticky bombs, and more. Mega Man’s projectiles are mostly used to hurt opponents and put together some pretty nasty combos.
Link
Link is another character who has been in every Super Smash Bros. game from the start. Link is known as a sword character in the game, but the hero of Hyrule also has a huge collection of other weapons to fight with.
Link can use bombs, which he can now set off himself, a bow with an unlimited number of arrows, a boomerang, and a sword blast that he can only use when his health is at 0%. All of these weapons are great ways to make the enemy’s life hard, but the bomb is famous for killing an enemy early in the game.
Min Min
One of the most recent characters to be shown off in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Min Min. The ARMS character is included in the DLC fighter’s pass for the game. Min Min doesn’t have any other weapons besides the one she can shoot from her arm.
Min Min can punch opponents from about half the distance of a stage away, which is what makes her a zoner. The arms of Min Min can also grab an opponent from a long distance. On top of that, Min Min has two different smashes because players can also smash with the B button.
Snake
Snake surprised everyone when he first showed up in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a long time ago. The character was known for sneaking up on enemies and blowing them up with his different weapons. The character is the same in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Snake has a lot of weapons that fans of Metal Gear Solid would have seen him use, like a C4 bomb, a guided missile launcher, an RPG, and even grenades! Snake players have made some of the coolest moves with all of these.
Hero
Hero is one of the newest characters added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the game’s fighter’s pass. Hero has come a long way from the different Dragon Quest games, with different looks that fit each game in the series.
Hero has the most moves in the game because his down special lets him choose from a random list of RPG moves from the Dragon Quest series. Hero also has a fireball that can be charged and a tornado move that hits from below.
Isabelle
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Isabelle was added as the echo fighter to the popular Villager. Isabelle’s moves are mostly the same as Villager’s, with some small but useful changes. Isabelle has a fishing pole that can be very annoying to her enemies.
She also shares Villager’s pocket move. Her hidden rocket move is different from Villager because she plants a rocket in the ground to surprise opponents who aren’t paying attention or to fit into a combo. She also has the famous slingshot that Villager used.
Duck Hunt
Duck Hunt was added to the Super Smash Bros. series by surprise in Super Smash Bros. Duck Hunt is nothing more than the dog from the game Duck Hunt with a duck on his back.
The dog and duck fight together by throwing cans that can explode when shot at and clay targets. They also have a move where the hunter from Duck Hunt is thought to be shooting at the opponents. Duck Hunt has some great combos that may be hard to learn, but they are worth it because they look cool and work well.
Simon/Richter
In the early days of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Simon was introduced along with his replacement, Richter. There isn’t much difference between these two in terms of how they play. The only things that are different are their animations and holy water effects.
Simon and Richter might be the best zoners in Slope Game because they can throw axes, holy water, long chains, and even a cross that looks like a boomerang! With all of these things, a player of Simon and Richter can easily stay away from an opponent while doing projectile combos and quickly finish off a stock.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for the Nintendo Switch.
